  • ½ cup baked beans (brown or white)
    ¼ cup tomato-based sauce
    ¼ onion, chopped
    ½ carrot, diced
    ¼ cup kale or other greens, chopped
    ¼ cup chopped squash (optional)
    ¼ tsp cumin
    ¼ tsp onion powder
    Salt and pepper to taste
    1 tsp oil or butter for cooking

  • 2 cups baked beans (brown or white)
    1 cup tomato-based sauce

    2 carrots, diced
    1 cup kale or other greens, chopped
    1 cup chopped squash (optional)
    1 tsp cumin
    1 tsp onion powder
    Salt and pepper to taste
    2 tbsp oil or butter for cooking

  • Cutting board

Instructions

  1. Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, and kale (or greens) and sauté until soft and fragrant, about 5–7 minutes.

  2. Add baked beans, squash if using, and Sloppy Joe or tomato sauce. Stir well to combine.
    Season with cumin, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

  3. Reduce heat and simmer 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and becomes glossy.

  4. Taste and adjust seasoning — add a splash of water if it gets too thick or a drizzle of maple syrup for a touch of sweetness.
